Trestle Building Jig

NOGRS Trestle Jig

NOGRS Members now have access to a Trestle Building Jig so they may construct trestle bents to use in their garden railroad. A table saw would be needed to cut the wooden pieces used to construct each bent. Waterproof glue and a pin nail gun are also needed for construction. Dennis Roth is the current holder for the jig, and the jig may be borrowed and returned to him after your bents are made.

Decay Resistant Wood

Decay Resistant Wood is desirable for most of the outdoor projects. A great example is the wood selected to use in the Trestle Building Jig above. Dennis McBride found the chart here and is sharing it for our members benefit.

Sound Systems for Garden Railroad Buildings

Adding sound to your Garden Railroad always creates interest. Sound options are almost endless —- A Church could have Wedding Music, Christmas Music, or even Hell Fire and Brimstone Preaching. A Blacksmith Shop could have Hammering and Bellows sounds. A Wild West Saloon could have a Player Piano Playing Songs from that era and maybe an occasional Shootout with Marshal Matt Dillon. The PDF file below has ideas to consider if you may want to add sound to your Garden Railroad.
